The technical investigation matters.

You may not know whether one piece or one thousand pieces are affected.

- the customer location,
- the reported failure mode,
- the likely production and shipment window,
- where suspect material could currently exist,
- what immediate containment is required,
- who owns the response,
- and when the next verified customer update will be sent.
Only then should the technical investigation begin to accelerate.
This does not slow down root cause analysis.
It creates the controlled environment needed to perform it properly.
Activity Is Not the Same as Control
Customer claims create pressure.
Pressure creates activity.
Meetings appear.
Emails multiply.
People search production records.
Samples are requested.
Managers begin asking for updates.
A lot can happen very quickly.
But a busy organisation is not necessarily a controlled organisation.
Control means the team can answer:
- Who is leading?
- What do we know?
- What remains unknown?
- Where is the risk?
- How is the customer protected?
- What happens next?
If those questions cannot be answered, more activity will not solve the problem.
